A+ ~~ The lady who does dresses works only on Monday. She is amazing. Somewhat pricey but I didn't give her a lot of time to get my dress done. She had to redo all the beading on the sides and it is was right on. Out of 6 point bustle one did break. Also, she added in a corset back that I got lots of compliments on.

A ~~ The 2 fittings were a success!!! It’s perfect! Cindy did such a great job. I would definitely recommend her. She’s VERY reasonably priced (the cheapest I could find) but you’d never know because she does such quality work!

A- ~~ Barb told me she was going to make a larger panel to go under the corset back on the dress, which wasn't done. This meant that the waist cincher I was planning on wearing I couldn't end up wearing b/c it showed in the back. This caused less support for my bewbies and make my dress fall funny in the back and my boobs looked kind of funky. It all worked out, but I wish I would have known that would be a problem before I went to get dressed the day of the wedding. This also caused the dress to keep riding up in front so my crinoline showed most of the night. I should have tried the dress on before the day of the wedding so some of it is my fault, I just wished I would have known the back panel was a problem at my last fitting, but no one said anything about being able to see my undergarments.

A ~~ Barbara is the owner of The Lady Who Makes Dresses. She did an awesome job with my dress and a great job with my bustle. I didn't want a cupcake butt and she made a great bustle that stayed all night and looked great while keeping my dress off the floor. She also did a great job hemming the dress and making sure the detail of the dress was accented. The only downfall was it cost $300 which was more than I was expecting to pay, but worth it for all the work she did. I highly recommend Barbara.

I love Barb! So sweet, so calming, very affordable! She saved me at least $100 on alterations. I hit a glitch when I ordered my BM dresses through Netbride, and called her to see how quickly she could do alterations if I needed last minute stuff, she calmed me down and assured me that my BM’s dresses would be altered and ready to go the day of. I ended up going through Pearl’s Place, they came in plenty of time, I called her up and she got us right in to get started. We had my dress, 3 BM dresses and 1 MOB dress and she did a great job on each and every one of them. I can truly appreciate what she does, and I commend her on the work that she does, she is absolutely amazing.

A+ ~~ My dress did not come in on time and I was given the choice of buying a dress two sizes too big, or finding another dress at the last minute. So, I called Barbara and spoke with her to see if she could handle it, and she said of course! My dress had a lot of beadwork on the bodice and she spent countless hours removing and adding beads to the bodice to get it down two sizes! She did a wonderful job. She is the sweetest lady. She is just wonderful to work with!

A ~~ Can't say enough great things about Barbara Williams...she does great work and it's very reasonable. I think I paid $275 for my veil, alterations (hemming, taking in, changing neckline) and bustle plus steaming. She did a great job on my mother's dress as well.

A+ ~~ The prices were fair and they did a great job. I had them make my halter strap detachable so that I could have a different option for the reception and Mia just whipped it up and didn't charge me for it. Also, my MOH had a bad bad alteration job so the day before the wedding we took it in and they fixed it in 2 hours!
From: malaika
B+ ~~ Since I bought my dress from Mia's, I had them alter it as well. At the first fitting, I explicitly stated that I wanted to have the straps left on the dress, and Mia decided that I should wear it just buttoned in with the manufacturer's buttons, which sounded fine to me. When I came in for my second fitting, the dress fit beautifully... but it had no straps. When I asked Mia about it she said that since she didn't have anything written down for the straps she assumed that I wanted them taken out, which I thought was weird. She still had the straps, fortunately, and she sewed them back in. They kept falling off my shoulders during the ceremony and reception though, which I didn't think was a big deal until I saw how bad it looked on the video. I'm not sure that was Mia's fault since I should have tested the straps after I got the dress back more than I did. I'm sure if I had taken it back they would have fixed it for me with no problem. The rest of the alterations (hem, taking in the bodice, etc.) were great and when the straps were up the dress was gorgeous!

C+ ~~ Good to work with, timely service. I give them a C+ because one of my bustles came out during steaming, and we had to re-sew it. Also two more came out while I was dancing.

They did great work. My bustle was the easiest and never fell. It took one hook. Plus, everything was cheap! Woo hoo!

B ~~ She did a great job with hemming my dress and taking it in a bit.. but the bustle came undone no less than five times at the reception and it really would have been much easier had I not had to have it redone five times… She had also forgotten that she said she would press the dress.. so she did it really quickly and still charged me quite a bit. She is very nice to work with and I was surprised about the bustle..

A++++++++++++++++ ~~ I’ve said it before and will again - Nancy was one of my favorite vendors. She is simply amazing. She really collaborated with me to modify my formerly a-line dress to a more fitted mermaid shape, and was a joy to work with. I am happy to recommend her to anyone. Just e-mail me at godleysg@yahoo.com if you want her contact info.

A+ ~~ Laura did an awesome job with my bustle. She was quick, cheap and her work is very good. What more can you ask for?
From: otis
A ~~ Laura is amazing. She worked on my Reem…. Perfect. I took her 3 picks of FG dresses that I liked and a bag of material and she custom created 2 FG dresses…..Perfect. I took her 2 dolls and told her I wanted the dolls to have matching FG dresses for gifts for the girls…. Perfect. She made me 2 RB pillows out of the left-over material…. Perfect. She did alterations on 2 of my BM dresses and nailed them the first time…. Perfect. However, I did have one BM (MOH) that did not deliver her baby until 12 days before the wedding. Laura constantly reassured me that she would be able to do the dress "last minute" to insure proper fit. But by then she had over-booked herself for that week so she had to do the dress too soon so at the wedding my MOH's dress was a little too large in the chest. It still looked fabulous and I still would recommend Laura to ANYONE.

Referral through Sandy's Bridal ~~ She does great work, and rebuilt my sister's dress from a 12 to a 6-8 without any problems. She isn't great at following up, so you have to call her to find out when things are ready. And her husband doesn't seem to take messages. Great work and fair prices. If you or one of your bridal party is allergic to cats, this is not the seamstress for you. She has one (or two?) that come & go through her sewing room at will. Otherwise, recommend, but keep her number in your cell phone and pin her down for dates to come back for fittings & pick ups.

Katherine is amazing. She is talented, professional, efficient, and cares *so much* about her brides. I was bowled over. I hired her to do the alterations on my wedding dress, rehearsal dinner dress, and MOH dress; press those dresses and my mom's dress; make a custom veil; deliver everything to the wedding location; and do dress repairs and send the dress off for cleaning after the wedding. She did a fabulous job with all tasks!

Kathryn likes to work with small wedding parties (bride only, or bride and a small number of bridesmaids -- no 14-bridesmaid groups) so that she can give a lot of personal care and attention to everyone. She did a particularly lovely job on my bustle -- it was beautifully designed, and I got many compliments. Her prices are extremely reasonable.

She went above and beyond with the design of my veil, too -- I had wanted a metal comb with a particular, hard-to-find tooth size, and she went to the ends of the earth to find it, surprising me with it at the wedding.

Highly, highly recommended seamstress!

A ~~ Katherine is located in Lawrence, and is worth the drive.

Katherine works out of her home and has a great set up with secure storage. She has great attention to detail, never makes you feel rushed, and knows exactly what she is doing. I paid ~ $160 for her to add bra cups, take in the front of the bodice around my bust (hand work on the lace and beading), take in both side seams several inches (hand work on the lace and beading), add a pocket to the skirt (b/c I'm goofy like that), French Bustle, shorten the corset tie, final press and steam and a storage bag.

My only regret with Katherine is that I let her talk me into bra cups instead of investing in a supportive undergarment. I have a large chest and by the end of the night, the sewn in cups weren't doing it for me anymore! However, that is such a minor detail considering how flawless her work was and how amazing my dress looked. I highly recommend Katherine.
